Thelma’s girls start their course in dressmaking. The first day at the factory is the first day’s paid work most of the girls have ever done. The trainees find it hard to understand the general rules of a professional work place. Irish traveller Margaret finds it hard to deal with authority and clashes with fellow trainee Bridget. Shannon, the youngest of the group, ends up being suspended from the course after Thelma described the thing that she has done as pure evil.
